Chaos and Love

I have been incredibly busy lately with my two jobs and my family, so my posts have been few and far between. This post will be brief, but I feel led to say this.

This morning, as I was attempting to work from home, the background noise of the children rose to a deafening roar, and I heard my poor husband in the background trying to quiet them. He is "Mr. Mom", as he is retired and stays home with our adopted babies (our biological grandkids, ages 2 and 3) while I work.

He walked into the room and told me that he was at the end of his rope; the noise the kids were generating was just too much for him this morning. He had a headache and was losing his temper. I could sympathize....even in the back of the house at my desk it was incredibly distracting.

But then I read a post at one of my favorite High Calling blogs, which put the whole thing into perspective: we tend to forget that the mess, the noise, the dirt, and the chaos represent the presence of Love in our lives....they prove that we are raising children. I recall our lives before we adopted Matthew and Emma, how clean and neat and quiet the house was. And how lonely and empty it seemed at times.

Thank You, Lord, for the chaos in our everyday lives....

"Behold, children are a gift of the Lord" - Psalm 127:3.

Amen.

A friend of mine didn't want to clean her glass door because it was smudged by her grandchildren's fingerprints when they visited from out of state. It reminded her of the chaos and the love of their visiit. I love your title!

Thank you Nola! Fingerprints on glass can be one person's "mess" and another person's treasure....

My hat goes off to you and your hub. What blessed chaos! I don't have children of my own, but am an elementary teacher and can relate to your husband's need for quiet and space. May you know balance and energy and wisdom!

Great reminder for me -- the noise is a blessing. Good for me to remember that in the midst of it, rather than regret later (in the quiet) that I took it for granted. Joyful noise! Yes, they are a gift!
